The check of stop rule is negative tolerance, because if the outer diameter of the thread is smaller than negative tolerance, it can pass the general rules well, and it will pass the stop rule smoothly when it is tested with stop gauge. It can be seen that the thread gauge, whether checking positive tolerance or negative tolerance, can achieve its purpose very well.
