Do I need travel insurance?
So the main question is, do I need travel insurance? The short and quick answer is yes! Alongside your passport, travel insurance is the most important thing to remember when travelling abroad. Whether it’s one week in Spain or a trip around the world, your number one priority should be to get yourself covered for your travels.
The majority of trips go by without incident, but on the odd occasion, illness and accidents do happen and unless you’ve got money to spare (in some cases £1000’s) you’ll need travel insurance to cover any misadventure. Even if you’re travelling in cheap countries, travel insurance is still a necessity. While basic medical care is cheap and won’t break the bank, medical bills will start to add up if you break a bone or worse! A good example is Nepal, one of the cheapest countries in the world to travel but if you find yourself needing a helicopter evacuation out of the Himalayas you will facing a bill in the region of £5000 – 6000. A huge price to pay if you don’t have travel insurance cover.
Choosing the right travel insurance company can be a real headache, with so many companies vying for your business it’s important to pick the right company for yourself and your travels. Fortunately, for you, we have tried and tested many travel insurance companies during our trips across the globe, and while there are many good companies offering value for money there is always one company we turn to time and time again. World Nomads are our go to travel insurance provider who we’ve used for our past three trips to Mexico, Thailand, and Morocco and we will be using for our upcoming round the world trip. We’ve found their quotes have always been reasonable and while not the cheapest, provide extensive cover and great customer service. Thankfully we’ve never had to make a claim but from speaking to other travellers who have, it’s a very quick and easy process with no hassle.
Below we have set out why we use World Nomads and what they can offer you as a travel insurance provider.Travel insurance is a must when travelling abroad, make sure you're covered for all activities!Click To Tweet
